We are tasked with conducting research and performing an architectural analysis on a selected building. Each group is responsible for choosing ONE (1) building from the provided list.
The National Mosque of Malaysia, or Masjid Negara, is a prominent Islamic landmark in Kuala Lumpur. Built in 1965, it boasts modernist architecture with a distinctive 73-meter minaret and an umbrella-shaped roof. This large mosque, adorned with Islamic art, symbolizes Malaysia's identity and commitment to Islam.

Sketching Analysis (25%)
We are tasked with conducting research and architectural analysis on selected buildings. Each student is required to choose FIVE (5) buildings from the provided list. Alternatively, students have the option to select their own historical buildings, with approval from the lecturer.
About Architecture History & Theory
A historical study of the evolution of Ancient architecture to Western architecture from the beginning of time to the period of Enlightenment, with emphasis on the intellectual, aesthetic, technological, political, and economic aspects that have influenced architectural design. These challenges are examined using prominent contemporary cases as well as the work and philosophy of significant exponents.
Reflection
LECTURES
The architecture history and theory lectures have broadened my aesthetic sensibilities and deepened my understanding of how societal, cultural, and technological factors influence architectural evolution. Engaging with diverse styles and movements and delving into theoretical aspects has given me a nuanced perspective on architecture as a dynamic reflection of human thought, culture, and progress.
